Update on a set of OYB Partners

Bianca and Annsley are One Year Bible partners this year and are both basically on track with their Bible reading. Isn't that pretty awesome? Bianca and Annsley's favorite section of the daily reading is the New Testament. Bianca loved the book of John and Annsley enjoyed the book of Esther. Annsley has realized that there is a lot about the Bible that she never knew. Bianca said, "I've learned a lot, but one thing I've learned is the ten commandments and that we need to follow them." She also said that the hardest thing about the OYB is "remembering to make sure you read it everyday and to keep going." Annsley agrees by saying, "It's hard to do it everyday." Both are keeping up and staying on track! Recently the One Year Bible people have been reading Genesis and
Revelation and have been reveiwing the things we learned at camp this past
year! How are all of you doing with your OYB reading? Staying on track? Getting a little behind? Stopped all together?

Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas!

Colton's summer mission project

While we were at camp one of our RAD-XT (eXternal Team), Colton Parsons, was on a summer missions trip in the USA. He went with a team from his church, including his dad. He mentions that he's glad we received the photo he sent and goes on to describe his mission activity:

Hi,

Glad to hear that the pix came as good use!

My trip was So awesome! First we drove to Kent County West Virginia ,
We did it in 2 day,s Then we stayed at a church one night and then a
school with no air...lol for the next 9 days, My team worked an a Lady
named Mildres house. We replaced and tore off a roof. The origanal roof
was from the 1900s and then we took off 11 more, one on top of the
other! 12 in total. It was dirty work but fun just the same.

Mildred was a nice but quiet lady, She made us cookies and she cried
when we left! It was a rewarding experience and one I will not soon
forget. I will go back again next year and hopefully many years to
come. I would Highly recommend this trip!!! It is ASP not habitat...Im
sure they are similar though..lol...
Continuing to Support Project PB

You gave $802.50 during camp to help Purnatha Bhawan in India. Some people asked how they could continue supporting Purnatha Bhawan (which we called "Project PB"). To find out how you can continue to give toward that project, see the Project PB page.

Doc
Courtney's View

Hi, I’m Courtney! I look forward to Indian Springs Camp Meeting
every summer! I have lots of great friends there, especially at the
Tweens Tabernacle. There is so much to say about the Tweens. I love the
puppets; they are so funny! Doc is a really great ventriloquist. But
the best part about going to the Tweens is the Multi Mega Giga Games.
Everything we learn during camp is used as clues in the games. It is a
great way to learn our Bible verses and everything else we study at the tabernacle! Indian Springs is the best camp meeting in the world! Hope to see you next year!

Our Final Offering Total

On the last day of camp we announced the total offering to help Purnatha Bhavan to get a new computer was $801.01. A bit more came in after that, so the check we sent had a final total of $802.50. Praise God!

If you want to contribute more to the project keep watch on the site here. We have asked for project donation details and a way you can continue to contribute.

Doc
Why does SomethingElse think kids are ugly?

Ever wonder why SomethingElse seems to think kids are ugly? You know his comments about the funny lump in the middle of our faces and the flappy things on the sides of our heads? Maybe these photos will help us understand. (click on a photo for a larger image). Why SomethingElse may be right<IMG id=small_10577_1217384157688 alt="Yup.
A note from Annsley

RAD 2008 has been my favorite year so far. Some of the best times were during small group. All the girls on my team were awesome. I love you all! We we're the Nova Diva's this year, with the amazing poster drawn by Worth, and the really super cool cheer (Hey! Hey!). It was such a blessing to get to know Mrs. Gloria, my mentor and group leader, this year!
Like always, four-square was incredible! The challenge got harder and harder, the longer we all played, which rocked. All the goofy times (when I was on Kelsey's back), all the serious times (when Shashi and Coach played), and all the other times=fantastic.
Being on the RADTeam was an amazing experience this year. It gave me wonderful leadership opportunities, and it helped all the adult people. :) Of course, it's a lot of fun to hang out with some pretty awesome people. The RADTeam was so much fun!!! It was never a pinkish time. (Love you guys!)

Annsley
From the eyes of Catherine

Hello, My name is Catherine H. I was in Kimberlee's group.
She is so amazing all three years that I have been at Tweenz I have
been in her group. I also had Hannah for our RAD team member. She was
so funny and made me laugh all the time. This year was my final year
and I am very sad, but I do want to be part of the RAD Team. I really
liked Something Else and his family. I had to miss the Kingdom of socks
because I had to go home that day, but then came back that night. Next
year I hope that the Kingdon of Socks can return. They were there my
first year and I fell in love with them. Thanks for another AWESOME
year.

<3, (its a heart)

Katherine's Take

Hi! My name is Katherine. This was my final year at the Tweens.
Although is seems sad, it's really not. I've had so many fun times at
the Tweens that I know that my time was used wisely. This year though,
was the best year of them all. First of all, I was in Kimberlee's group.
She makes her group so much fun! She helps everyone get to know one
another better. I became extremely close with some of our group.
Everything was just so much fun!

RAD 08 - Over

Well, guys, RAD 2008 is officially over. Kinda sad? Yet exciting, all at the same time, right? The time we spent together was priceless. The memories: laughter, four-square, MMGG, jewelry making, small groups, Ale-8, running in the rain, Something Else. But there were things that were even more priceless: The commitments you made with Jesus, reading through the Bible in a year, the time we spend together in Worship, being drawn closer to the Lord, learning about the Alpha and Omega, the first 3 chapters and the last 3 chapters, growing closer to our Amazing God. RAD 2008 was wonderful. It is rather sad that it's all over. But now you, as a young follower of Jesus Christ, can share what you have learned with those around you. You can be a light. Go and shine. You're back home now - in the real world... and you can make a difference! Can't wait to hear what God does in your life this year!

Nova Divas

Hi!! I'm Mackenzi and am at Indian Springs for the second year in a row. Its AWESOME!! I am in Gloria's group, the Nova Divas. We are a lot farther ahead this year than last with our group name, chant and poster. Last year we didn't have our name until the third day!! This year the second day. Worth did our poster again this year and (not to brag) I can tell already its going to be the coolest one out there for the second year. It has 'Rad Mag' at the top with a model wearing a dress that that says 'Nova Divas'. It then has different headlines on the sides. My personal fave is 'When Will RAD Kids Get Enough Time for Small Group?'.

We also have a pretty cool chant so far:
                            Hey, hey, you,you
                            We are the Nova Divas
                            Yes, Yes
He is the Alpha and Omega
                            Hey! Hey!

Not as great as last year, but still very good. The funnier thing is that today we had enough time to finish it and do motions to it! Impressive, huh?

This year we've been studying the first couple chapters of Genesis and the last couple of Revelation. Its really cool and scary studying about the end times. Yesterday we spent more time dicussing the end than answering the questions!

I hope that you can come to Indian Spring again or for the first time next summer!

Mackenzi

Worth's Point of View

Hi, I'm Worth and I am a tween. Indian Springs is a great place for people to praise the Lord and have fun! This camp is welcome to all Christians from around the world. Every year our offerings go to different contributions and other Christian camps and places.

Here, in the mornings we worship and get into small groups from 9:30 to 12:15. Then from 3:00 to 5:00 we have recreation at the Tabernacle. We play four-square, do jewelry activities, and have either a slip-and-slide or water balloon volleyball. Then at 7:30, we head to the youth (or the main) service. After that, at 9:00, the snackateria opens where we can eat one of their Famous Cheeseburgers. Then we play four-square at the Tweens Tabernacle until 10:30.

In small groups, in the morning, we prepare for the (drum roll)

~*Multi-Mega-Gigga-Game*~

My group leader is (a second drum roll)

   ~*Gloria*~

We are called the "Nova Divas." Nova means 'new beginning'. And the Rad Group this year is mainly focused on Genesis and Revelations. In other words, the Beginning and End, also, the Alpha and Omega, and in just one word, God. Every group gets to make a poster, a chant, and the name. In the Multi Mega Gigga Game, we have to say our chant everywhere we go. Last year, I was in Gloria's group and we had the BEST poster and chant. I love to draw and do anything creative. But we didn't win the game. The Multi Mega Gigga Game is just like a scavenger hunt. It's pretty hard.

It is so much fun to stay here and worship God but in the end, we are all ready to go back home. I live in Maypearl, Texas, which is way out in the country. It is in the Dallas area. In 2007, right before school ended for me, and the exact day we sold our house, it burnt down. Even though we got through it, my parents needed somewhere for me to go to forget all the drama, and Indian Springs was the perfect place. My grandparents had been going here for 2 years when they finally realized I would like it. We are staying in a motor home, and happy with it too. You can also stay in the Hotel, Motel, or buy a cabin.

So, to close it up, Indian Springs is wonderful.

Worth

I hope you remember me; my name is Benjamin Ivey, and I was
privileged to be immersed in God's presence with you over the weekend.
I enjoyed spending time with all of you so much that I struggled to
leave Sunday night. Being at Indian Springs over the weekend has been
the greatest highlight of my four months in the United States.

I continue to feel as if I were standing right beside you because
we share the same heart of love for God and for each other. We are part
of God's holy people, who are spread around the world. I, also, feel
close to you because God helps me pray that each one of you may
experience God in new ways and continue to live in His will. I pray for
you in ways that words cannot express, and I am sure that God will do
even greater things than I could ever imagine. I hope that you will
continue to pray for my family in Peru and myself as well.

What new things have you learned about God and why he created man and woman since I left?

Do you have any questions for me? They can be about anything - my
interests, what Peru is like, why I came back to the U.S.A., my
relationship with God, what my daily life in the U.S. is like -
whatever you can think of.

I miss you so much, and I love you all.

Benjamin I.

Mr. Steve's Discovery Group

This is my first year working in the RAD Program at Indian Springs and God has already blessed Mrs. Holli and me so much! Our group has Mikal, Connor, Jacob, Logan and Mark in it and we have named ourselves "The Awesome Wonders". How else can you describe the amazing fact that just like Adam and Eve, we are all made in the image of God? We have been having very spirited discussions about the various topics during our group time and only wish we had more time to be able to discuss everything in even more detail. I'm very glad that I have made so many new friends so far at Indian Springs!
Internet Connections Restored!

Winky Carlock, the caretaker for the Indian Springs Holiness Camp Ground has been working for months with Burt Luce to create a highspeed wireless Internet connection around the camp grounds. We thought we had it in good shape last week then it gave out on us. But Burt has been working for the last few days and a redesign and putting in new equipment and now we seem to have more of the sort of connection we hoped for.

So if you have wondered why you don't seen more photos or blog entries or other news from camp so far, that's the problem. Now we need to organize our team of reporters to update this site with news of the program.

Doc
Off and Running

The RAD Project started strong on Friday morning, and is becoming even stronger! The Tweens are having a fabulous time learning and growing in their relationship with Jesus. Memorizing Bible verses, digging into the first three chapers of Genisis, and enjoying Christian fellowship is what has been happening around here the past few days. Of course, we've played tons of four-square and created lots of beuatiful jewelry, along with going down the slip-n-slid and playing with water baloons. In the mornings, the groups have been coming up with creative names, group posters, and team cheers: they're awesome! People are having a fantstic time, and of course, are excited about the Multi-Mega-Giga-Game on Thursday morning!
The Team is Assembling!

The Staff and RAD Team are starting to assemble at Indian Springs to get ready for RAD. There is a lot of work to be done before Friday morning. What sort of stuff?

Doc and Mrs H are printing study sheets (they've used almost 2,500 sheets of paper so far) and getting other tools and materials ready. They will head to Indian Springs shortly. When they get to the camp Doc will set up the Tweens office and the computers in the computer lab.

Mrs Cindy and Mrs Jenny are there already cleaning the Tab and pulling all the supplies and chairs and all out of storage and getting the Tab set up. AND this year we'll have some tent-type additional meeting areas. We'll have some photos up when it's ready. Then they will be going out to buy more supplies.

Kimberlee is there and is helping Mrs Cindy and Mrs Jenny and getting ready for the training session Thursday afternoon for the RAD Team. We have a smaller RAD Team this year so there will be a lot of work for our Team members to do. But we have a great group; they can handle the work.

Shashi is coming down tomorrow from Philadelphia; he's been working on the materials for his teaching sessions on worship.

It's getting exciting to see all this in action.
Come Ready for the Weather

What's the weather like at camp meeting? Usually it's hot, really hot -- and humid. But for those of us arriving early to set up for camp the forecast calls for isolated thunderstorms, highs about 89 and lows about 68 from July 5 through July 11. So bring your sunscreen, but also bring your umbrella.

Only once in the history of the Multi-Mega-Giga Game have we had to play the game in the rain (a gentle rain; we won't go out and about if there is lightning), so we always hope for a dry day on game day.

Keep up with what's expected for weather by checking out the weather info box on the home page.

See you soon,
Doc
Videos from RAD 2007

Thanks to Kimberlee Tate we have four videos available in our Video Gallery. One is a general video with lots of snippets from RAD 2007. The second is about the Multi-Mega-Giga Game. The third is sort of a random collection of scenes from RAD 2007. The fourth is some of our team chants. Check them out!
Launching a new RAD Log

Here's our new site

For 2008 we are changing our RAD Project website. By having a site hosted by mSITES we can have multiple leaders able to help build and maintain the site. This way we'll be able to do a better job at keeping our website updated. And we need ideas from all of you. What would you like to see on the RAD website? Let us know by replying to this entry.

Doc
